Why do gas station attendants think it's illegal for them to tell you their price of gas over the phone?
but it's not illegal, I asked a friend who happens to be an attorney and he said "that's crap, they are jerking you around".
I doubt if it's illegal, but if they did it, every gas station would get numerous calls every day from stupid people that will drive across town to save 5 cents a gallon. It's comical, if you put 15 gallons in your car, 5 cents difference is only 75 cents total, yet people will think it's worth their time (and gas) to drive extra to save half the cost of a soda inside the gas station.
It's a waste of their time, so virtually every gas station has a policy not to do it.
If I owned a station, I would agree with that policy and would instruct my employees not to answer the question.
