what sign does the water pump gave when bad?
the most obvious sign is it will leak coolant (but that is not the only thing that will cause a coolant leak)
look for a leak around the area immediately near the pump itself usually coming from under the impeller shaft. Another way to be more sure is to remove the tension on the drive belt and spin the impeller shaft around. If you can get the shaft to wiggle around (up and down, slightly) it's another sign of a bad water pump. sometimes you will hear a scratchy or grinding sound when the pump is removed.
