Old Tin

I have a tin roof with lots of rust can we put tin over tin or do we have to tear off the old tin?
you should not put new tin over rusted tin since that will just speed up the rusting of the new , if you dont want to tear off the old you will need to put something like roofing felt paper over the old before laying the new
i'd say to be safe and make for a better job ....tear off the old
the new will lay better if you dont try to go over old
