Mini Tanker
Mitchell's Mausers M48 Tanker? Auto Ordinance M1 Carbine?
I was looking for a smaller rifle and not Mil surplus and I saw the AO M1 carbine ($900) and then the Mitchell's Mauser's M48 mini mauser.. What do you think of these guns? I'm not into hunting or anything, just want a rifle to plink with and have if I need it. I like the military style and own a Mosin but it's 60 years old so I'm not going to rely on it.
Also, what caliber would you recommend? It comes in 8mm Mauser, .30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester, .270 Winchester and .243 Winchester
I'm more familiar with pistols so I don't know the benefit's or drawbacks of these..
Less recoil, easy to shoot, cheap ammo is what I'm looking for. Stick with the Mauser 8 that it was originally designed for?

I have been eyeballing that Tanker for a year. I think with the $90 drop in weaver mount that Mitchells sells and a 2mil dot size AIMPOINT in .308, that would make a sweet setup.
I say .308 for the short action, common military round, plenty of power.
I think I just talked myself into it. Only downside is i'm left handed. But I am willing to overlook that.
