Machine Oil

How do I oil my Singer 132 machine?

I have a Singer 132 Featherweight sewing machine. Ive had it for about 10 years. It needs a little tune up but there are no instructions in the manual as to how to oil it. What should I do?

If your owners manual does not discuss oiling, do not oil. Not all sewing machines require oiling by the user. Oiling machines as if they are similar to others that have parts requiring lubrication will most often result in damage to the normal (as designed) working parameters of its moving parts or will deposit excess oil on your fabric or floor as it sluffs off the unused oil.

I do not own the Singer 132 but I did look at the manual. I do have Sewing and quilting machines that do not require lubrication. Those machines that i use over 100 sewing hours a year my husband turns into the local authorized service centers for the annual service in may (the start of spring) each year.

I hope this helps.
