Toy First
The 1980s brought the first program, the children of the base of a toy. Any idea which show it was?
We have been programs such as He-Man, GI Joe, Thundercats, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake, which have been all the toys first, then became programs children to help sell the toys. But I do not know who was the first program where the toy came first. Ideas?
In early 80s, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe became the first animated series to be based on a range of toys, rather than the reverse. This technique led to huge sales of toys, and led to a series of television-related toys and movies based the toy lines, including Care Bears, My Little Pony and Thundercats. In 1987, He-Man got his own movie, called Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren representing the plastic figurine.
